Bomensa / Information
Food & nutrition sources
Food information supports practical estimates, not exact predictions.
Reference sources
Bomensa’s nutrition reference work draws on recognized food-composition and public-health sources, including:
- INSA / PortFIR — Portuguese food-composition information.
- DGS / PNPAS — Portuguese healthy-eating guidance.
- USDA — food-composition reference information.
- New Zealand Food Composition Database — food-composition reference information.
This is a representative list, not a claim that every food entry uses every source. Naming an institution does not imply its endorsement of Bomensa.
From reference values to everyday portions
Food-composition values and the portion you select support the app’s estimates. A bowl, slice or handful can vary in real life, and cooking methods, brands and recipes can also change nutrient amounts.
Questions or corrections
If you notice a food entry that seems incorrect, contact Bomensa with the entry and the issue. See Nutrition & safety for the limits of general planning information.
